Interior door installation in Naples: the details that make a good fit

An interior door is something you touch every day. Its weight, movement and fit matter as much as its style. If you are planning interior door installation in a Naples home, begin by looking at the opening and the way the room works, rather than choosing a door from a picture alone.

Decide what actually needs replacing

A sticking door does not always mean the door itself needs replacement. Hinges, the frame or the latch may need attention. Describe what happens when you open and close it, and let the opening be assessed before committing to a new slab or a complete frame-and-door assembly.

Take photos of both sides, the hinges and the latch. Note whether you want to keep the existing trim and hardware. These details help define the work more accurately than a single width measurement.

Check the swing and hardware

Look at furniture, switches and walkways around the opening. Confirm which way the door should swing and where the handle belongs. A door that fits the frame can still be inconvenient if it blocks a cupboard or narrows a busy route through the house.

Choose hardware appropriate to the room: privacy hardware for a bathroom, for example, or passage hardware where no lock is needed. Discuss hinge positions and whether existing hardware can be reused.

Include the finishing work

Ask who will finish any trimmed edges, touch up surrounding surfaces and remove the old door. Review the expected gaps, latch engagement and movement at completion rather than judging the installation only with the door standing open.
